Like garments, headpieces can be worn to emphasize or correct certain features. The same fashion principle applies everywhere – it’s all about balance! We find that the main factor to take into account when pondering which headband shape suits you best is your face shape. Other factors might be the size of your head and your hairstyle.

A long face shape might benefit from a rounding effect, whereas a voluminously padded headband could make the face appear even longer. In the same way a round face shape could use some height but no rounding effect at all. Find an overview of our headband shapes below to help you choose your best fit.

  • Kipferl width: 4 cm
  • Kipferl height: 2 cm*
  • The fully lined upholstering is made with a unique 3D foam piece that adds more height to the top of the Kipferl than the sides.

*Note: Depending on the elasticity of the outer fabric, the upholstering gets more or less compressed resulting in more or less volume. The average Kipferl height is represented very well with our Merino Loden Kipferl range as shown in the above image. Moreover, thicker fabrics like velvet give more volume than thin fabrics like cotton sateen.

  • Kringerl height: 1,5 cm
  • The fully lined upholstering is made with an even foam piece that adds equal volume all around the head. Compared to the Kipferl shape this results in a rounder look.
  • Kranzerl width: 3 cm
  • Kranzerl height: 1,3 cm
  • The fully lined upholstering is made with an even foam piece that adds equal volume all around the head. If you like less volume and a slimmer shape our Kranzerl headbands are perfect for you!
  • Ringerl width: 2 cm
  • Ringerl height: 1,2 cm
  • The fully lined upholstering is made with an even foam piece that adds equal volume all around the head. The inner circumference of the Ringerl shape is smaller but can still fit both a girl's head and a woman's head.

  • Macaron height: 1,8 cm (with the piping)
  • The fully lined upholstering is made with an even foam piece that adds equal volume all around the head. The round shape gets even more accentuated by the middle piping.

  • Ammonite width: 4 cm
  • Ammonite height: 2 cm*
  • Inside an Ammonite is a fully lined Kipferl base. The final shape with the pleats is therefore elevating on the top.

*Note: Depending on the tautness of the pleated outer fabric the upholstering gets more or less compressed resulting in more or less volume. The average Ammonite height is represented very well in the above image. Due to the handstitched process of making an Ammonite we can always take special wishes regarding the height into consideration.

  • Inside a Baiser is a fully lined Kipferl base.

*Note: The soft twisted Baiser pleats are made to add even more volume to the Ammonite shape. Due to the handstitched process of making a Baiser we can always take special wishes regarding the height into consideration.
